About Consulnest
Consulnest is a data desk for household costs in the United States. We start with energy: what homes in each state pay for electricity, how that changes month to month, and how a state compares with its neighbors and the national average.
What we publish
- State pages with the average monthly electricity bill, the price, typical use, a 12-month and 5-year trend, and a bill calculator.
- An energy bill calculator and practical guides.
- A national ranking of all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
- A monthly report with the biggest changes from a year earlier.
Where the numbers come from
Every figure comes from a public primary source, mainly the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The source and the data month are shown next to each figure, and the full method is on the methodology page.
Who is behind it
The editor is Otto Pop, who approves every topic and reads a sample of each day's published pages.
Consulnest is operated by Brandnest SRL, Corvinilor 5, Satu Mare, Satu Mare County, Romania, VAT ID RO50780530.
We use software, including AI writing tools, to draft pages from the data. Every number is checked automatically against the source data before a page goes live, and the editor reads a daily sample of published pages. Read how in our editorial policy.
